And it's over
And I'm going under
But I'm not giving up
I'm just giving in

Sarah, oh Sarah. Your portrait work is always incredible. I absolutely adore it.

Okay so let's talk about your lighting. I think its great, I really really do. It looks like you've got a single main source, because of this, the face really pops out. Its almost like her head is lying on a cloth of her hair, instead of just her hair being attached. (That was a really awkward way to articulate that, but I think you get the gist of what I'm trying to say here).

What I don't like about the lighting is that it seems a little bit dark. Maybe that's too fit the feeling being expressed...but still I would have preferred just a bit more exposure. Maybe just half a stop or less. And a bit more contrast too, I really don't see any highlights really popping.

Let's look at composition. It is just gorgeous as always. You're one of the few people I've seen leave of a subject's head, and get away with it. But you do this well. Though, I'd still like to see do more complete headshots, just to the hairline there. But overall where you've placed the subject is good.

The frame is a little bit odd doesn't like a perfect square to me, which bothers me. (Or maybe it is, and I'm seeing it wrong) But it doesn't look like it, but its looks close. I could never like that, it just bothers me. I say either go for the perfect square or don't go square at all. But that's just me.

Moving on to the feeling. Oh Jeez, I love it. I love sad photos. This photo makes me feel something. A sense of loss, or missing something, or someone. Your model has done a great job with her expression. And you've done a brilliant job capturing it. Through the crispness, and your choice of monochrome, you have made the viewer (or at least myself) feel something. Good work .

Her hair and make up. Her hair is absolutely gorgeous. Its beautiful. Whoever did it, big ups to them. As well as her mascara, it works really quite well with this photo. Solid work on that part. I'm not sure if that was you, or the model, or someone else, but still, solid.

So all in all, brilliant work here. One of my favourite shots from you. 4.5/5.

I really hope that was fair and constructive for you

ohgosh this is a magnificent portrait! ive never seen any portraits like the ones you take. its hard to express how they are so different & original. i mean the subjects are all very beutiful but that not it. i think its that they are soooo powerful & shattering. i mean their so larger than life & so overpowering in their impact. they always leave me all skaken & overwelmed. i guess Magnificent is the best word for them. i think your a brilliant photographer & i m so in awe of your talent.,
